Benefits of an Assisted Living Community

If you’re considering a move to an assisted living community in Denver, CO, and you’re wondering what it would be like to live in one, it may help to take a tour of a community or visit friends who live in assisted living.

Here are a couple of other thoughts to consider:

Meals

An assisted living community will have routine times for meals in a dining room. Many communities also have cafes where you can have a snack, and all will have the option to have your meals served in your room, should you prefer. Meals will be designed to meet dietary requirements, and you will have a choice of several entrees, side dishes, and desserts. Meals may be available as a meal plan or may be included in your monthly fee. Equipped kitchens or kitchenettes may also be available in some apartments within the assisted living community.

Activities and Services

Communities offer scheduled activities as well as the facilities and equipment to let you do things on your own. This may include pool tables, woodworking, arts and crafts, swimming, reading a book from the library, enjoying the sun lounge, etc.

Voluntary, scheduled activities may include exercise classes, water aerobics, games, religious services, art and education classes, shopping or restaurant outings, social events, live entertainment, or even happy hours.

Your assisted living community may also have services like doing your laundry for you or housekeeping for your apartment. It may also offer salon services like hair styling, manicures, and pedicures onsite as well. Some communities even have some limited banking services, shopping, and visits from health care providers. Transportation is available for those who no longer drive.
